Privacy
Atlas is a progress record for martial arts studios, made by Firebelly Studio. This page says what it keeps, why, and who else sees it.
What Atlas keeps
- Your name, and the email address or phone number you sign in with. Atlas has no passwords: you sign in with a one-time code.
- The studios you belong to and your role at each: owner or admin, coach, parent, student, or a child's own login.
- A student's training record at their studio: belt and stripes, classes attended, the techniques covered in those classes, the coach's marks and notes, promotions, and questions to the coach and their answers. A promotion photo only if the parent or adult student agrees.
- For a child, the record their studio keeps, added by a parent or guardian who agrees to it. Atlas records that agreement and when it was given.
- Your notification choices, and, if you turn notifications on, an address for this browser or a token for this phone that lets Atlas send to it.
- Request logs from the servers, which hold network addresses and are kept for 30 days at most.
Children
A child's record is kept by their studio with a parent's or guardian's agreement. Under Atlas's rules, a child's own login is only for children aged 13 and over. Only a parent can make one, and only where Atlas has switched child accounts on; children can't sign up by themselves. Atlas sends children no marketing and shows nobody advertising. A parent can turn a child's login off at any time.
Why
- To run the studio's record: what was taught, who attended, and the path to the next stripe or belt.
- To show parents and students their own progress, and to tell them about promotions, notes from the coach and a weekly summary, by the channels they choose.
- To keep Atlas working and secure.
Who else sees it
Your studio's staff see their studio's records. Atlas doesn't sell data, show advertising or use third-party analytics or trackers, and its pages load nothing from anyone else. Some companies run parts of Atlas for Firebelly Studio and handle data only to do that:
- Supabase, the database and sign-in, in Canada.
- Vercel, which runs Atlas's servers in Canada and delivers its pages.
- An email provider, to send sign-in codes and notifications.
- An SMS provider, to send sign-in codes by text, where a studio uses phone numbers.
- Apple and the browser makers' push services, to deliver notifications you turned on.
- An AI provider, only where a studio uses drafted replies or technique suggestions. It sees a training record or a class description with names taken out, and is bound not to keep it or train on it.
How long
A record stays while the student belongs to the studio. Sent notifications are deleted from Atlas after 30 days, and server logs after 30 days at most. When a studio closes its account, its parents can save their child's promotion history before the studio's data is deleted.
Your choices
- Turn email, the weekly summary and notifications on each device on or off under Account.
- Ask your studio to correct a record, or to remove you or your child.
- Ask Firebelly Studio for a copy of what Atlas keeps about you, or to delete it, through the support page.
